The Science and Technology for Peace and Security (PEASEC) research group, led by Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Reuter, at the Technical University of Darmstadt integrates computer science with peace and security research. We focus on creating innovative approaches in cybersecurity and privacy, human-computer interaction, and peace and conflict studies.

Your Tasks
As part of your role, you will pursue a PhD at the intersection of Cybersecurity and Privacy, Human-Computer Interaction and Peace and Conflict Research. Your research will focus on one or more of the following areas:
- Peace Informatics and Technical Peace Research: Explore topics such as hybrid warfare, the impact of technology on war and arms control.
- Crisis Informatics and Information Warfare: Investigate the role of social media and collaborative technologies in conflict and crisis situations, including opinion manipulation and disinformation.
- Usable Safety, Security, and Privacy: Contribute to the development of security and privacy-enhancing technologies that are accessible and user-friendly.

Your Profile
We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications and bring enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research:
- Academic Background:
- Successfully completed graduate studies (with good or very good results) in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Human-Computer Interaction, or related fields.
- Other relevant study areas include Peace and Conflict Research with a technical focus, Psychology, Data and Discourse Studies, or Cognitive Science.
- Motivation and Research Interest:
- A strong intrinsic motivation to engage in high-quality and impactful research.
- A clear ambition to pursue independent research and work towards a PhD.
- Personal Skills:
- A collaborative mindset, determination, and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Proficiency in English (very good level) and at least basic German language skills.
