Christian Reuter of TU Darmstadt has been appointed as the official GI Ambassador for the university by the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik, GI). In this role, he will – as a successor of Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Fellner – serve as the university’s key representative within the GI network, fostering connections between students, researchers, and the broader informatics community.
Professor Reuter holds the Chair of Science and Technology for Peace and Security (PEASEC) at TU Darmstadt. His interdisciplinary work bridges computer science, security research, and societal responsibility, with a strong focus on cybersecurity, crisis communication, and digital resilience. As GI Ambassador, he will enhance the visibility of the GI at TU Darmstadt and promote engagement with its diverse programs and initiatives.
“The GI plays a crucial role in shaping informatics as a scientific discipline and highlighting its societal relevance,” said Reuter. “I’m honored to contribute as GI Ambassador and to strengthen the dialogue between academia, students, and practitioners.”
GI Ambassadors act as local contacts at their respective universities, supporting student outreach, coordinating events, and promoting GI opportunities such as competitions, workshops, and funding programs.
Reuter’s appointment underlines the GI’s recognition of his outstanding contributions and the strong commitment of TU Darmstadt to responsible and impact-driven informatics research.
